ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

One of the social problems that has been increasing in the world is the illegal migration of the lower class of developing countries to the industrialized world. The natural cause of this social phenomenon is linked to poverty, one of the worst evils a person can suffer in global south countries. Consequently, poverty has created in the minds of these people, a dream of migrating to developed countries, despite of the hardships and the little possibility of successfully arriving across the border alive as it is currently happening to the Africans when entering Europe via Spain, or to Latin Americans when entering the United States via Mexico. To prevent this, the industrialized world has shut its frontiers, hardened its migratory policies and strengthened the vigilance of the borders. However, these persons find a way to arrive to their promised land. In fact, some of them die attempting to do so. The more difficult the measures set by the governments to prevent these people from crossing the border, the more is the people’s wit to cross the frontier.

The increase of the illegal migration has brought as a consequence the birth of certain political groups which have been acquiring increased power, by only promising to expel illegal immigrants. This issue has aroused a lot of passion and confrontation in political debates. In this modern world, people’s industrialized world has been sensitive and charitable with persons who are suffering from extreme poverty. For that reason, it is incompressible and contradictory the social rejection in which these persons are subjected. So, it is no venture to think that behind it all there is a racial problem.

The illegal immigration in the United States is very complex because there are 14 million illegal immigrants most of whom have children who are American citizens. It is true that deportation has increased but it is also true that it has generated serious family, economic and psychological distress on these children, ultimately creating irreversible traumatic disturbances. Excluding the Spanish community, the American population has kept a stoical silence surrounding this depressing and pathetic situation. This silence does not really commiserate with the American people’s religious convictions. The illegal immigration topic has been analyzed from an economic point of view. Nevertheless, the discussion has been focused on the negative effects and no-one has emphasized the enormous contribution that illegal immigrants bring to the growing economy of this country. In light of the above mentioned, we are in necessity of the integral migration reform as soon as possible in which remains reflected human and compassionate sentiments of the legislators.

In summary and returning the illegal immigration in the world, it is known that while there exists extreme poverty, it will be difficult to find a magical formula to solve the illegal immigration problem. This is because a person who is suffering from such calamity will do whatever necessary to avoid enduring a miserable life even if his/her life has to be put at risk by crossing walls, seas or deserts. There is an effective solution that can contribute to solve this problem, which is that rich countries help poor countries to develop at economic, technological and industrial level. Thus, poor people will not be pressured to seek jobs in foreign land.
