THE CAUSE AND THE EFFECT

Many centuries had to pass so that one of the fathers of philosophy, after many years of deep analysis, came to the conclusion that there does not exist an effect without cause. Therefore, the cause-effect theory is as ancient as the logic in which the philosophy was built. From the philosophical logic emerged theories about the existence, the relation between human beings and the nature and people’s behaviors. In addition, there exists a universal principle that says that applying the relation of the cause-effect is to use common sense.

If we analyze the cause-effect relation with respect to people’s behaviors, we know that the experience has demonstrated that something that it is very obvious such as: hard work produces success, tenderness produces love, dysfunctional family produces psychological instability, hunger produces crimes and so on. In this order of ideas, a popular proverb came into my mind that mentions that a person collects the fruits that he/she has cultivated; in other words, if one cultivates misery, one will collect violence.

Nonetheless, governments, politicians and organizations aware of this, they inexplicably try to solve social problems attacking its effects and leaving the causes intact. In the countries that are underway to develop, where poverty is the number one problem, the governments attempt to resolve this problem by imposing severe laws against people who usually commit crimes because it is the only way they have to supervise. The Middle East’s conflict shows us how violence generates more violence. Everything began after the foreign powers created the Israeli State, since then, governments and political groups have been attempting to resolve this problem, destroying themselves instead of negotiating for peace. Their situation is very complex because of religious, racial, political and cultural reasons. Now, it is more complicated due to economical reasons and the tremendously high death toll between them.

The international Iranian problem points out how the creation of a monster generates the creation of others. Some countries had built nuclear bombs and they do not want other countries to do the same. Now, many believe that Iran is building nuclear bombs and are threatening to take drastic measures against this country. To justify their decision, they said that is “for the security world”. If these countries really believed this, they should not have built them themselves. These countries should destroy their nuclear material which is the cause of why other countries feel in the right to build their own. There are a lot of double standards in this issue.

In light of the above mentioned, one may wonder why governments, politicians and organizations try to resolve social problems by destroying the effects, instead of addressing the causes. If we take into consideration human history, social insensibility is the most probable reason. In fact, the powerful rich people have never care the destiny of the week or poor people despise the fact that they have been saying the contrary.
