THE PSICOLOGY OF IPOD TIMES

The modern world is characterized by the technology and the permanent change of human behavior. Technology is moving so quickly that a product you buy today is out of date the next year. Something similar seems to happen regarding people’s behaviors and the way they face their daily life, especially in the couple relationship. Psychologists are taking advantage of this fact because they are promoting successfully the idea of turning into psychological problems pathetic situations.

In my professional opinion, except for the ophthalmology, medical sciences in general and psychiatry and psychology in particular have stagnated. In this modern world, the professionals of these branches have not produced anything new, but have dedicated themselves to criticize the scientists who really decoded and treat mental illness.

It is truth that psychology is related to emotional instability and immaturity, but it is also truth that not all the situations that produce melancholy, pain or sorrow require professional help. Nevertheless, psychologists are promoting the idea of recurring to psychology to solve any personal or familiar issue. For instance, after divorcing or mourning, when deciding to have children, when deciding not to marry even if the couple has been dating for a long time, or when a breakup happens in a relationship. If the affective area is touched, a person has the natural defense mechanism to overcome difficult situations; usually the most effective instrument is the pass of time. If this mechanism does not work, undoubtedly a person needs professional help. It is not a good idea to enter in the psychological or psychiatric world without having a serious cause that justify to do so because the experience has demonstrates that people sometimes become more confused mentally when falling in hand of a mediocre professional, which among other things, there are a lot of them. This is why; sometimes an objective and healthy conversation with a friend can be more useful than a visit to the psychologist.

My articles in Spanish will be published on Sundays and in English on Wednesdays.
